M.E Power Electronics and Drives - Laboratory Facilities

LABORATORY AND COMPUTING FACILITIES

To enhance Research, Development and Innovation in academic institutions, MHRD is competitively funding 30 Centres of Excellence for world class research in thematic areas under Technical Quality Improvement Programme, TEQIP-II, a World Bank assisted Project. Department of EEE received Rs.5 Crores funds for establishing Centre of Excellence in Alternate Energy Research. The thematic area of excellence includes Wind and Solar Energy.

Around 50 equipment and many software have been procured and installed in the Power Electronics and Drives lab. All the installed equipment are being used for research, development, testing and consultancy works. Faculty, Research and PG scholars are utilizing these facilities for their research and project work.

It is equipped with the state-of-art power electronics facilities, including drives for AC, DC motors and special machines with universal power converter modules, WAVECT, Speedgoat, OPAL-RT, power and spectrum analyzers, digital oscilloscopes, voltage and current probes, and accessory testing equipment. The faculty, research scholars and PG students are doing research on power electronic converters for alternate sources of energy, including fuel cells and hybrid vehicles.

The lab allows the programme to deepen its curriculum and strengthen it through additional educational and research projects. The faculty team has developed several research projects addressing electric motor control with industrial and automotive applications. Solar PV, Wind power generation systems, hybrid vehicle powertrain, DC-DC converters and inverter systems are some the focused areas of research.
